Miami Is Priced Into the Playoff Field; the Gators Have to Win Their Way In
The Florida college football playoff odds rest on a split the season has already made: the market treats the Miami Hurricanes as all but certain to reach the 12-team College Football Playoff, treats the Florida Gators as a team that has to win most of November to get there, and treats the Florida State Seminoles as out of the picture. Miami plays its home games at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium in Gainesville and Florida State at Doak Campbell Stadium in Tallahassee, and one board prices all three. Kalshi is the only venue pricing this contract, and the live board above carries its current price for every program listed.
What the Florida College Football Playoff Price Is Saying
On October 29, 2026, Kalshi had Miami at 94% to qualify for the playoff, the highest price of the 59 programs on the board, ahead of Indiana at 89%, Georgia at 85%, Ohio State at 82% and Notre Dame at 81%. The same day it had the Gators at 24% and Florida State at 2%. Read plainly, the price says Miami's place in the field is close to settled with five games left, while Florida's is a one-in-four question that November will answer.
What the price is saying about Miami is that the Hurricanes have two ways in and the market expects at least one of them to hold. The CFP's own description of the 12-team format gives automatic bids to the champions of the ACC, the Big Ten, the Big 12 and the SEC and to the highest-ranked champion among six other conferences, then fills the field with the best remaining teams, with Notre Dame in automatically if it is ranked in the top 12. An unbeaten ACC leader can qualify as the conference champion or, failing that, as one of the at-large teams, which is why a price in the mid-90s survives even a loss on the schedule.
The trading on the Florida programs is uneven. As of October 29, 2026, Kalshi had cleared about 62.7K contracts on the Gators' line, 29.7K on Miami's and 16.0K on Florida State's, out of about 3.30 million contracts across the whole board, which put about 17.8K in the last 24 hours. A Florida line that has drawn twice Miami's activity at a quarter of its price is a line on which traders still disagree.
Miami's Path on the Florida College Football Playoff Board
Miami is 7-0 and 5-0 in the Atlantic Coast Conference, the only unbeaten team in the ACC standings, and ranked No. 1 in both the AP Top 25 and the AFCA Coaches Poll released on October 25, 2026. The Hurricanes opened with a 45-6 win at Stanford, beat Florida A&M 77-7 and Central Michigan 52-3 at home, won 33-20 at Wake Forest and 41-13 at Clemson, beat Florida State 43-35 at Hard Rock Stadium on October 17 and beat Pittsburgh 52-23 there on October 24.
Five games remain, and two are on the road. Miami plays at North Carolina on October 31, 2026 and at Notre Dame on November 7, then closes at Hard Rock Stadium against Duke on November 14, Virginia Tech on November 21 and Boston College on November 28. Notre Dame is the hardest of them by the same board, which had the Fighting Irish at 81% to qualify on October 29, 2026; the AP poll ranks them fifth. The ACC Championship is set for December 5, 2026 at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte.
The market reads the November 7 game as the one that could change the shape of Miami's season without ending it. A win there leaves the Hurricanes unbeaten into the last three weeks; a loss leaves them a one-loss ACC leader still playing for a conference title. Both versions qualify on most paths, and Kalshi's 94% on October 29, 2026 is the market's way of saying so.
The Gators' Case on the Florida College Football Playoff Board
Florida is 5-2 and 3-2 in the Southeastern Conference, ranked No. 17 in the AP poll and No. 20 in the Coaches Poll of October 25, 2026. The record is a mix the board finds hard to price. The Gators beat Florida Atlantic 66-21 and Campbell 52-3, won 44-39 at Auburn, beat Ole Miss 52-28 at home and won 27-24 at Texas on October 17. In between they lost 45-17 at Missouri and 38-19 at home to South Carolina.
The schedule ahead is the steepest of the three Florida programs'. Florida plays Georgia on October 31, 2026 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, hosts Oklahoma on November 7, plays at Kentucky on November 14, hosts Vanderbilt on November 21 and finishes at Florida State on November 27. Kalshi had Georgia at 85% to qualify and Kentucky at 38% on October 29, 2026, so two of the five opponents are themselves priced as playoff contenders.
What Kalshi's 24% on October 29, 2026 is saying is that a two-loss SEC team can still reach a 12-team field, but only by adding wins over teams the committee will rank. A third loss leaves the Gators a 9-3 team at best, and the price treats that as a much narrower path. The more detailed SEC picture is on the Gators' SEC championship board.
Florida State and UCF on the Florida College Football Playoff Board
Florida State is 3-4 and 1-3 in the ACC after losses to SMU, Alabama, Louisville and Miami. Its wins came against New Mexico State, Central Arkansas and Virginia. The Seminoles host Clemson on October 31, 2026, play at Boston College on November 7 and at Pittsburgh on November 13, host NC State on November 21 and host Florida on November 27. Even five straight wins would leave an 8-4 record with three conference losses, which is why the board prices them at 2%, a price that is closer to a remainder than a forecast.
UCF, the state's fourth program in a power conference, has no contract on the board at all. The Knights are 4-3 and 2-2 in the Big 12, and host Baylor on October 30, 2026.
The Case Against the Florida College Football Playoff Read
The strongest case against the read is that the market is underpricing the Gators. Florida beat Texas and Ole Miss, two teams the same board prices above it, at 54% and 43% respectively on October 29, 2026, and its two losses came to Missouri and South Carolina, which the board has at 9% and 7%. A reader who holds that view would say the committee ranks résumés, and that a team with two wins over playoff contenders is closer to the field than a 24% price implies, especially if it beats Georgia on October 31.
There is also a case against the Miami price, weaker but real. No 2026 committee ranking has been published as of October 29, 2026; the CFP's rankings page still shows the 2025 season. Until the first ranking appears, the market's confidence rests on the polls, and a loss at Notre Dame followed by a loss in the ACC Championship would leave Miami a two-loss team that did not win its conference, which no price in the mid-90s fully allows for.
The market's answer to both is the schedule. The Gators have Georgia and Kentucky still to play and no margin left, and Miami has three home games and a conference lead that gives it two ways in.
What Changes the Florida College Football Playoff Read
The read is that Miami is in on almost any path and Florida needs to win nearly everything left. It changes if:
• The first committee ranking: the selection committee's 2026 rankings, the first of which had not been published as of October 29, 2026, place Miami lower than the polls or the Gators higher than No. 17.
• Florida against Georgia: the October 31, 2026 game in Atlanta is the clearest single test; a Gators win would make the 24% look low, and a loss would leave a third defeat on the record.
• Miami at Notre Dame: the November 7, 2026 game is the Hurricanes' last regular-season opponent the board prices as a playoff team.
• The rivalry game: Florida at Florida State on November 27, 2026 can end the Gators' case on the last weekend.
• Conference championship weekend: the ACC and SEC championship games are set for December 5, 2026, after which the committee's final ranking sets the field.
When the Florida College Football Playoff Market Resolves
Kalshi lists each program as its own contract under KXNCAAFPLAYOFF-26. The Miami contract resolves Yes if Miami (FL) is one of the teams to qualify for the College Football Playoff, and the Florida and Florida State contracts on the same test for those programs; every other contract on the board works the same way, so several can resolve Yes at once. Kalshi lists an expected settlement of December 15, 2026, after the field is announced. The CFP's own schedule puts the four first-round games on December 18 and 19, 2026, played at the higher seed's home stadium, the quarterfinals from December 30, 2026 to January 1, 2027 and the national championship game on January 25, 2027.
