Miami Carries Florida's National Title Price While the Gators and Seminoles Trade as Long Shots
The Florida college football championship odds rest on one program: the market treats the Miami Hurricanes as a genuine national title contender after a 5-0 start and a No. 3 ranking, and it treats the Florida Gators and the Florida State Seminoles as long shots after starts of 4-2 and 3-3. Miami plays its home games at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida State at Doak Campbell Stadium in Tallahassee and Florida at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium in Gainesville, so one contract prices three of the state's programs side by side. The live board above carries both venues' prices for every program listed.
What the Florida College Football Championship Price Is Saying
On October 16, 2026, Kalshi had Miami at 13% to win the College Football Playoff national championship, the best price for the Hurricanes that day, with Polymarket at 14%. Kalshi had Georgia in front at 20%, Ohio State at 17% and Notre Dame at 15%, which put Miami fourth on a board of 52 programs. Polymarket had the Gators at 0.9%, with Kalshi at 1%, and Kalshi had Florida State at 1%.
What the price is saying is that Miami has moved from a team with a good schedule to a team the market expects to be in the playoff field and competitive once there. A price in the low teens in mid-October is about as high as any program trades this far from January, because a champion has to reach the playoff field and then win as many as four playoff games, from a first round on December 18 and 19, 2026 to the title game. The Gators' and Seminoles' prices, by contrast, are what the market charges a program that would need an almost unbeaten finish just to be considered.
The volume says Florida's programs draw national attention whatever their records. On Kalshi, Miami had drawn about 3.0 million contracts by October 16, 2026, eighth among the 52 programs, and the Gators about 2.7 million, 11th, out of roughly 55.0 million on the whole board; Polymarket's smaller market had about $87K on Miami and $88K on Florida out of about $1.0 million. Florida State's Kalshi contract had drawn about 115K contracts. A Gators line with that much trading behind it and a price near one in a hundred is a line on which interest has stayed after hope left.
Miami on the Florida College Football Championship Board
Miami was 5-0 and 3-0 in the Atlantic Coast Conference on October 16, 2026, alone at the top of the ACC standings, and ranked No. 3 in both the AP Top 25 and the AFCA Coaches Poll released on October 11. The Hurricanes opened with a 45-6 win at Stanford, beat Florida A&M 77-7 and Central Michigan 52-3 at home, won 33-20 at Wake Forest, and beat Clemson 41-13 on the road on October 3.
The schedule ahead is where the price will be tested. Miami hosts Florida State on October 17, 2026 and Pittsburgh on October 24, plays at North Carolina on October 31 and at Notre Dame on November 7, then closes with Duke, Virginia Tech and Boston College at home. The trip to Notre Dame is the one game against a program the market prices above Miami. The ACC Championship Game is on December 5, 2026 at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte.
If Miami reaches the semifinals, the Orange Bowl semifinal is played at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens on January 14, 2027, which is the one place on the playoff calendar where a Florida program could play in its own stadium.
The Gators and Seminoles on the Florida College Football Championship Board
Florida was 4-2 and 2-2 in the Southeastern Conference on October 16, 2026, unranked in both polls. The Gators beat Auburn on the road and Ole Miss at home, then lost 45-17 at Missouri on October 3 and 38-19 at home to South Carolina on October 10. Their remaining schedule includes Texas in Austin on October 17 and Georgia, the No. 1 team in both polls, in Atlanta on October 31.
Florida State was 3-3 and 1-2 in the ACC, with losses to SMU, at Alabama and at Louisville, the last 44-20 on October 9. The Seminoles play at Miami on October 17, 2026 and close the regular season at home against Florida on November 27. Polymarket lists no Florida State contract on its national title market, so Kalshi is the only venue pricing the Seminoles.
Kalshi's board also lists Miami of Ohio, under the name Miami (OH), as a separate program from Miami (FL); only the Hurricanes are a Florida program.
The Case Against the Florida College Football Championship Read
The strongest case against the read is that Miami's 5-0 start has come against a schedule that tells the market less than the ranking suggests. Of the five wins, two came against ACC programs with winning conference records on October 16, 2026, Wake Forest and Clemson, and the Hurricanes have not yet played a program the market prices above 1% on Kalshi or Polymarket. A reader who holds that view would say Miami's 13% is priced on margin of victory against weaker opponents and that the November 7 trip to Notre Dame, priced at 15% on Kalshi, is the first real test.
The other side of the counterread is that the market is too quick to write off the Gators. Florida's two losses came to SEC opponents that were ranked when they played, and the Gators still play Texas and Georgia, which means wins over both by October 31, 2026 would put them back into the national conversation faster than any result available to Florida State.
What Changes the Florida College Football Championship Read
The read changes if Miami loses before the playoff field is set, and it is dead for the Gators and Seminoles with one more loss each.
• Florida State at Miami, October 17, 2026: at Hard Rock Stadium. A Seminoles win would put a first loss on Miami and keep Florida State's slim line alive.
• Miami at Notre Dame, November 7, 2026: the Hurricanes' only regular-season game against a program priced above them.
• Conference championship weekend, December 5, 2026: the ACC title game in Charlotte and the SEC title game at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.
• The playoff, December 18, 2026 to January 25, 2027: first-round games on December 18 and 19, quarterfinals on December 30 and January 1, semifinals on January 14 and 15, and the national championship on January 25, 2027.
When the Florida College Football Championship Market Resolves
The market resolves on the winner of the College Football Playoff National Championship game, scheduled for January 25, 2027 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. Kalshi's contracts pay Yes if the program wins the College Football Playoff National Championship Game, with an expected expiration that night. Polymarket pays Yes on the program determined as the national champion of the 2026-27 College Football Playoff from official NCAA information, and it closes a program's contract as No once that program can no longer win.
